SciSpace describes itself as an end-to-end platform for discovering, analyzing and writing scientific literature. Its menu lists an agent, Chat with PDF, Literature Review, AI Writer, Find Topics, Paraphraser, Citation Generator, Extract Data and AI Detector. It suits people who want many separate tools under one subscription, including tools that help produce text.
Wonders is one guided workflow for a literature review: pick a topic, build a search strategy, read and highlight, organize sources on a board, then write with inline citations and an automatic bibliography. It suits students and researchers who want structure, and institutions that want a tool that does not write for students.

The integrity question
SciSpace offers an AI Writer that autocompletes text and adds citations, a Paraphraser that rewrites text in a chosen tone, and an AI Detector. These are legitimate tools with legitimate uses, such as editing your own draft in a second language. Some university AI policies restrict tools like these, so check yours before you rely on them.
Wonders has no AI writer that drafts text for you, no paraphrasing tool and no detector. The AI helps you search, read and summarize sources. Each claim in a summary links to the paper it came from, and a direct quote is shown only if its words are found in the paper’s text. We made that choice on purpose, and we explain it in Don’t cheat and Detection is the wrong model. If you do use generative tools, our guide on how to cite AI tools shows how to disclose it properly.
One disclosure, so that this page and our privacy policy do not disagree silently: the policy lists a notebook writing assistant that can suggest edits (improve, expand, summarize or rephrase) to a passage you have selected. It is not in the notebook editor we ship today. If your course policy restricts rephrasing tools, ask us at support@readwonders.com before you rely on this page.

What you can check in Wonders
These are things the product does today. You can test each one during the trial.
- When Wonders quotes a paper in a summary, it checks the quote against the paper’s text first. If it cannot find the words in the paper, it does not show them as a quote.
- Where the full text is available, citations in summaries carry the page number. Clicking one opens the PDF at that page with the passage highlighted.
- Search ranking takes journal quality into account, using SCImago quartiles for more than 28,000 journals, and you can filter by it.
- Wonders connects to your library’s access through OpenURL resolvers, EZproxy and OpenAthens proxies, KBART holdings and LibKey, so the full-text link goes through your subscription. Some of this is set up by your institution.
- Search, reading, a visual board and a writing editor sit in one workspace. You can take a plain question down to a full Boolean query, cite in six styles (APA, MLA, Chicago, Harvard, IEEE, Vancouver) and export to Word, LaTeX, PDF, BibTeX and RIS.
We have not tested how SciSpace handles these points, so this list says nothing about SciSpace.
What Wonders does not do
Wonders has no systematic review screening or PRISMA workflow, no data extraction tables, no browser extension, no mobile app, no public API, no free plan and no index of its own. Chat covers one paper at a time unless your account is in the project chat beta. SciSpace covers more tasks. Wonders does fewer things and guides you through them.
